26th August 2006 -
SWH took us to Halfmoon Bay and Golden Gate Bridge followed by dinner at 9th Fisherman's Gross on Fisherman's Wharf.
The drive to Half Moon Bay from Sunnyvale passes through some scenic routes. There are forested areas for some distance. And, in one place, I couldn't see the tops of the nearby hills because the clouds had covered them.
I can understand clouds hiding the peaks of tall mountains like Everest and K2 but these hills were like 120 meters high and considering that we were pretty close to sea level, the total elevation of the hills wouldn't be more than 200 meters. Even then, the clouds hung over them. Am wondering what this phenomenon is all about.
Let me see if I can find it out.
Meanwhile, this is me touching the Pacific .. actually, running away from it.

Today was a beautiful day - perfect for the Golden Gate trip. We started from Sunnyvale around 6pm and we reached there by 7:30 pm. We had started out in sunny weather but it turned cloudy half way through and by the time we arrived at Golden Gate bridge, it was pretty cloudy.
Here is a photo of the bridge swathed in the clouds.

Dinner was at Alitalo - an Italian place at Fisherman's Wharf (not sure of the name) ...
Had Pizza and Spaghetti. Those were the only no-meat-no-fish items available. The waiter was most helpful in helping me to place the order.
SWH drove back via the Downtown area. It is incredibly crowded with tall buildings, shops, people etc. And there are too many traffic signals on the way. We had to stop at almost every one of them. As usual, the people here are patient and respectful when it comes to abiding by the traffic laws.
Part of it may have come from the fear of the law but most of it is cultivated.
ciao,
VJ
